On September 15, 2026, Hiroshima University signed an agreement on academic and research cooperation with the King Abdullah International Medical Research Center (KAIMRC) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

KAIMRC is a research institution under the Ministry of National Guard Health Affairs (MNGHA) that promotes research in the fields of medicine and healthcare. The agreement establishes a framework to further develop academic and research collaboration between the two institutions, including researcher exchanges, joint research, training, and other academic activities.

Under the agreement, the two institutions will promote a broad range of collaboration in areas of mutual interest, including regenerative medicine, orthopaedics, and cartilage repair, through exchanges of researchers, physicians, and faculty members, as well as joint research, seminars, workshops, and other academic activities.

The agreement was signed on behalf of KAIMRC by H.E. Prof. Bander Al Knawy, Chief Executive Officer of MNGHA, President of King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences (KSAU-HS), and Chairman of the KAIMRC Executive Council, and on behalf of Hiroshima University by President Mitsuo Ochi.

Hiroshima University also exhibited at the Japan Pavilion within the RGMBS 2026 venue, where it introduced the University’s education, research, and international initiatives, while also promoting Hiroshima University as a study destination and providing information to prospective students.

Through this agreement, Hiroshima University will further strengthen its collaboration with KAIMRC and expand academic and student exchange with Saudi Arabia and the wider Middle East.
