Botswana's Ambassador-Designate to Japan, Prof. Boga Thura Manatsha, Visits HU

On August 6, 2026, Prof. Boga Thura Manatsha, Ambassador-Designate of the Republic of Botswana to Japan, paid a courtesy visit to the Higashi-Senda Campus of Hiroshima University (HU) and met with President Mitsuo Ochi.

Executive Vice President (Global Initiatives) Shinji Kaneko also attended the meeting, during which participants exchanged views on future academic and people-to-people exchanges between HU and the Republic of Botswana.

Ambassador-Designate Manatsha is an alumnus of HU, having completed the doctoral program at the then Graduate School for International Development and Cooperation and earned his doctoral degree from the University. Prior to his courtesy visit, he also attended the Peace Memorial Ceremony held in Hiroshima City earlier that day.

It is expected that this visit will further promote academic and people-to-people exchanges between HU and the Republic of Botswana and contribute to strengthening the friendly relations between Japan and Botswana.
